CROS 2013

Research Staff Association

The Sussex RSA is run by and for research staff at Sussex, and is independent of the University structure. Contact other members, discuss your views, and maybe get involved in helping to organise events or influence policy. Find out more about the Sussex RSA.

Making the most of your time at Sussex

Your professional development

Opportunities for research staff development are growing, with training courses, events, and electronic resources being improved all the time. Activities are provided by a range of units at Sussex, including the Doctoral School, Teaching and Learning Development Unit, Staff Development Unit, Library, Careers and Employability Service, and IT Services. Academic & professional support

Employment support

Human Resources (HR) provide three avenues of support to research staff: Personnel; Payroll & pensions; and a Staff Welfare Officer. Find out more about HR support.

Health & wellbeing

Three units at Sussex provide support for your health, safety and wellbeing: Occupational Health, the Psychology and Counselling Service, and the Health and Safety Office. Between them, these departments offer support to staff on a range of issues, including: post-illness or injury assessment; work-related vaccinations; one-off debriefing sessions (e.g. after a traumatic episode at work); advice on health issues, and a referral service to other mental health agencies.
