Doctoral researchers can also arrange a one to one career advice consultation by contacting careers@sussex.ac.uk. A consultation can be very useful for help with your job search, researching a career that is right for you, and for advice on CVs, applications and job interviews.

Protecting your Tier 4 status- 12th March
Joanne Chee and James Gordon, International Student Advisors are holding a talk for all doctoral researchers who are Tier 4 visa holders on the 12th March. The talk will cover:
- Understanding your and the University’s Tier 4 obligations & conditions
- Correcting visa mistakes
- Intermission and the implications of this on your visa
- Working during your studies
- Doctoral Extension Scheme
- Post study employment routes
- Schengen visas and travelling to Europe

International Approaches to Support Gender Equality in Research Careers Workshop for early career researchers - Open to final year doctoral researchers

The Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) in partnership with GenderInSITE is pleased to announce an interactive workshop on International Approaches to Support Gender Equality in Research Careers on 24th March 2015 (13.30 - 16.00).
The workshop is open to all postdoctoral research staff, early career academic faculty and final year doctoral researchers at the University of Sussex.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Discuss ideas and experiences relating to issues of gender equality in career progression for early career researchers.
- Network with other Sussex researchers and international experts in Higher Education Policy and Gender Equality.
- Influence university practice and inform research agendas relating to gender equality in research careers.
The workshop will provide opportunities to exchange ideas, experiences, concerns and good practice, and these will be mapped using live graphic recording. Activities will include group discussions over lunch (using a World Café format), followed by a panel discussion.
A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Please note: Available places are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis, and you must register for this event by Thursday 12th March.
Nature as Commodity - Public Roundtable - 19th March
Fishery bycatch offsetting in Canada, catastrophe bonds in the US, weather derivatives in Ethiopia… What is at stake with the financialisation of nature? Where do we go from here?
On 19th March, 'Nature as Commodity' will bring together activists and academics to discuss the financialisation of nature. The roundtable is organised and supported by the Centre for Global Political Economy, STEPS centre (IDS) and as part of 'Critical Perspectives on the Financialisation of Nature - Theory, Politics and Practice' has been awarded support from the Doctoral School's Researcher-Led Initiative (RLI) Fund.

One World Week 2015: 16th - 21st March 2015
One World Week is a joint venture between the University of Sussex and the Students' Union, designed to celebrate Sussex's international outlook and cultural diversity. Between 16th and 21st March there will be over 70 individual events and activities taking place, across five different categories:
