Power of networking and collaborating

As part of the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) funded Indian network, Vinita Damodaran (Director- Centre for World Environmental History) and Ranee Prakash (Curator, Flowering Plants, Natural History Museum) one of the core steering committee members have been working hard to bring Indian collaborators  to the UK as part of network activities. This has now proved fruitful as is evident from the recent initiative of digitising Indian plants at the Natural History Museum where thousands of Indian plants are being digitised and the network was successful in inviting Dr Paramjit Singh Director Botanical Survey of India to UK on two different occasions. Recently, Dr Singh  visited UK and had dialogues with the  AHRC network  hosted by CWEH and the NHM, as well as Kew Gardens and the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh and the Asia Scotland Trust.

Watch this space for many more initiatives where Vinita and Ranee along with other steering committee members will try to bring various disciplines such as Arts, Humanities and the Sciences together  for future innovative projects such as these and aimfor further funding.

This successful initaitive shows the impact of networking where transnational collaboration with people  from interdisciplinary backgrounds working closely together  opens up channels for further networking.
