Simon Bowes and AIBO Visit Brighton Primary School

COGS member Simon Bowes recently gave Brighton pupils a taste of research in cognitive systems -- but he wasn't alone. Accompanying the cognitive science tutor and former COGS DPhil student on his April visit to Elm Grove Primary school was one of the PAICS Lab's AiBO robotic dogs. As part of their 'Iron Man' theme, where they were investigating artificial life, year three students prepared questions for Simon, who explained the differences between mechanical toys and autonomous robots. The AiBO demonstrated its abilities by picking up its bone, responding to the children and doing its dance.
