Examples Of Just A Few Typical Experiments
Reading experiment…£6 for approx one hour of your time. Requirements: Speak English as your first language…Not dyslexic…Not colour blind.
Vision experiment looking at cognitive function through the measurement of eye-movements…30-40 mins of your time for which you’ll be entered into a £50 prize draw. Requirements: None known. Involves four computer tasks looking at items.
Memory experiment…£3 for 30 mins of your time (with the possibility of being asked back again). Requirements: A very good level of English…Not dyslexic…All adult age ranges… You cannot take part if you participated in my previous experiments. Involves remembering visual and verbal materials.
Problem solving experiment…£3 for 30 mins of your time. Requirements: Speak British English as your first language. Involves arithmetic.
Hearing experiment…£3 for 25 mins of your time. Requirements: Must not have hearing problems…not drink alcohol for 12 hrs…not take illicit drugs for 5 days…not take sleeping tablets for 48 hrs…not be taking anti-depressant medication. Involves measuring your physiological responses to tones and loud sounds.
Questionnaire experiment…Win lottery prizes of £25, £10, £5 or 10 x £1 Requirements: Read English fluently enough. Involves completing a fun questionnaire about facial expression and emotion.
Breakfast experiment…£15 for 2 x 90 mins sessions. Requirements: Speak English as your first language…Not dyslexic. Study is looking into the effect of mood on performance and among other straightforward tasks. Involves eating breakfast on 2 mornings.
Alcohol experiment…£20 for 4-5 hrs of your time on one single day. Requirements: Males only…Regular social drinkers (8 units or more per week)…18-40 years of age. Involves maybe drinking alcohol…looking at pictures…completing questionnaires…a range of psychological tasks…lunch provided.
