Painting Workshop: Still Life

Still life is the artist's laboratory. We aim to use still life objects as a way of exploring and developing approaches to the handling of paint, colour, composition and drawing.

Drawing Workshop: Landscape/ Interior

Engage directly in the landscape through drawing on this intensive course of study. If weather does not permit, we work from still life arrangements in the studio. The course is suitable for all levels. Includes fieldwork: Grade 2.

A new and stimulating opportunity for visual arts practitioners: develop your own voice through an exploration of ideas, debate and presentation in a challenging but supportive atmosphere (practitioners in other art forms also welcome). Students will be required to provide their own materials and undertake independent work. Includes fieldwork: Grade 1.

Drawing the Nude

The course offers participants a good grounding in life drawing, using a variety of materials. We study anatomy, proportion, balance and movement, and look at the ways in which these life studies can be applied to your own art work. Eight sessions per term.

Experimental Life Studies

Taking the figure as the subject, we explore line, form, colour and composition with a broad range of materials. Develop an individual response and push your drawing skills further through experimentation. Ten five-hour sessions from September 2009 to June 2010.

Learn about making 3D figures from a life model. Sustained studies and shorter poses, using terra cotta clay (kiln fired later). All levels of experience and ability are accommodated and welcomed. Eight sessions per term.
