Careers and Employability Centre

International students

We work with international students and researchers from over 100 countries and provide information, advice and guidance tailored specifically for international students.

We can support you throughout your time at Sussex with finding part-time work, exploring careers and further study, developing your employability skills and finding graduate work in and outside the UK.

Careers information

You can use our comprehensive online resources for researching your career in a wide range of sectors. There are also resources for further study and working internationally. Or you can look at using your degree and thinking about your interests and motivations.

Part-time jobs and vacation internships

We have information on finding part-time work and vacation internships and applying for jobs (CVs and covering letters). If you haven't worked in the UK before, you will need to apply for a national insurance number. You can also log into CareerHub to browse part-time vacancies and other opportunities.

Graduate jobs

We can support you to find graduate employment in the UK or overseas. We have information on working in the UK (visas and sponsorship), UK graduate schemes (including converting your qualifications to UCAS points), working in your home country, international graduate schemes and working outside the UK. You can also log into CareerHub to browse graduate vacancies.

Postgraduate study

Have you considered further study after graduation? Whether you're interested in a masters course or research, at Sussex or elsewhere, see our further study webpages to find courses and information on how to fund them.

Events and workshops

You can attend any of our events, which include employer recruitment talks and skills workshops. Our annual Careers Fair in November is a fantastic opportunity to meet a wide range of recruiting employers and training providers.

Undergraduates can opt to do a paid placement year after their second year of study. Students with a Tier 4 visa no longer need to make a new visa application from their home country in order to do a placement. Use our online resources to find out more and log into CareerHub to browse placement opportunities.

Academic skills

There are dedicated study skills pages for international students. These resources provide advice and links to resources to help you with your studies at Sussex.
