You can use our comprehensive online resources for researching your career in a wide range of sectors. Or you can look at using your degree and thinking about your interests and motivations.

Part-time jobs and internships

We have information on finding part-time work and vacation internships and applying for jobs (CVs and covering letters). You can log into CareerHub to browse part-time vacancies and other opportunities.

If you haven't worked in the UK before, you will need to apply for a national insurance number.

Graduate jobs, schemes and opportunities

We can support you to find graduate employment in the UK or overseas. We have information on working in the UK (visas and sponsorship), UK graduate schemes (including converting your qualifications to UCAS points), working in your home country, international graduate schemes and working outside the UK. You can also log into CareerHub to browse graduate vacancies.

Postgraduate study

Whether you're interested in a masters course or research, at Sussex or elsewhere, see our further study webpages to find courses and information on how to fund them.

Events and workshops

Attend some of the hundreds of events we run every year. These include careers workshops, information events, employer drop-ins and recruitment presentations, and job fairs. 

Please check our presentations from previous events page if you miss an event or workshop. 

Our annual Careers Fair in November is a fantastic opportunity to meet a wide range of recruiting employers and training providers.


All undergraduates can do a paid year-long placement in their penultimate year of study. Our dedicated Placements Team can help you get one from your first year.

Use our placements resources and browse vacancies in CareerHub. Come along to our placements workshop to find out more about our placements preparation programme

Students with a Tier 4 visa no longer need to make a new visa application from their home country in order to do a placement. 

Entrepreneurship and start-ups 

Our dedicated Entrepreneurship Team offers entrepreneurship exploration appointments if you are interested in starting a business or developing a social enterprise. You can make an appointment via CareerHub

Academic skills

There are dedicated academic skills pages for international students. These resources provide advice and links to resources to help you with your studies at Sussex.

Careers appointments

We offer 20-minute appointments with a Careers Consultant. This can be in person, by phone or via Zoom/Teams.

These can be used for CV feedback and applications, career exploration, finding work experience and placements, graduate opportunities and further study, interview preparation. 

You can make an appointment via CareerHub. Advance appointments can be booked up to two weeks ahead and on-the-day appointments can be booked from 9am each weekday.


You can also receive information and guidance online via Ask a Question. You can send us your CV or applications for written feedback. We aim to respond to questions within five working days.
