Part-time jobs and internships

If you haven't worked in the UK before, you will need to apply for a national insurance number.

Placements

All undergraduates can do a paid year-long placement in their penultimate year of study. Our dedicated Placements Team can help you get one from your first year.

If you have a student visa, you no longer need to make a new visa application from your home country in order to do a placement.

Student Circus

Try Student Circus, our job portal for international students. Student Circus is a niche job search platform where you can browse through the job listings that sponsor the Skilled Worker Visa, internships, and placements. You can also find Immigration Assistance from legal partners, Map My Journey to help you keep track of your job hunt, and the latest tips, advice and insights to get you hired.  Register with your Sussex email.

Events and workshops

Attend some of the hundreds of events we run every year. These include careers workshops, information events, employer drop-ins and recruitment presentations, and job fairs.

Entrepreneurship and start-ups 

Our dedicated Entrepreneurship Team offers entrepreneurship exploration appointments if you are interested in starting a business or developing a social enterprise. You can make an appointment via CareerHub

Academic skills

There are dedicated academic skills pages for international students. These resources provide advice and links to resources to help you with your studies at Sussex.

Careers appointments

We offer 20-minute appointments with a Careers Consultant. This can be in person, by phone or via Zoom/Teams.

These can be used for help with applications, career exploration, finding work experience and placements, graduate opportunities and further study, interview preparation. 

You can make an appointment via CareerHub. Advance appointments can be booked up to two weeks ahead and on-the-day appointments can be booked from 9am each weekday.

E-guidance

You can also receive information and guidance online via Ask a Question. You can send us your CV or applications for written feedback. We aim to respond to questions within five working days.
