English and Maths tutoring jobs for 1st years

Applications for the 2020 programme are now closed.

Gain paid work experience (£9 per hour) providing English/Literacy or Maths curriculum support at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College.

This exclusive opportunity for first-year students offers a 15-week placement to fit around your studies. Tutors will spend one day a week in the classroom from October to May providing curriculum support to students and vocational lecturers. You will receive full training as part of the programme.

Can I apply as both a Maths and English tutor?

You can apply to do both, but it is likely that you will only be tutoring in one subject. If you do want to apply for both then please make sure you explain fully in your application why you would be suited to both opportunities.

Do I need a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check?

Yes. This will be funded as part of the opportunity and further details will be sent to all successful applicants.

When do I apply and when does the tutoring take place?

You will need to apply at the end of your first year of study. We will email all eligible students when applications open and further information will also appear here.

The tutoring itself will take place over 15 weeks in your second year of study. Placement dates are flexible to fit around your teaching timetable and will be agreed between you and the college.

Can I apply for another funded opportunity as well?

If you become a Maths or English tutor through the scheme, you will not be able to apply for any other funded opportunities in your second year of study.
