What is Learning to Lead?

Applications for Learning to Lead are now closed. We will by running a 1 day Leadership workshop on Saturday, 25th February 2012.  Please check the events page for details nearer the time.


A fully-funded leadership training programme for 30 students (undergraduates or taught programme postgraduates).

The Careers and Employability Centre has teamed up with international management consultancy, Clemorton, to offer students the chance to:

  • Develop a real understanding of the skills and techniques of leadership, management and policy research
  • Explore and test out ways of making an effective contribution to policy research and evidence-based debate
  • Present a policy proposal to academic leaders

The 10 day programme uses a mixture of group and individual exercises, role play and experiential learning. Topics will include team working, decision making and understanding change management. Participants will receive personal coaching, support and feedback, as well as the opportunity to meet academic leaders and alumni.

Completion of the programme will enable you to:

  • develop your leadership, management and policy research skills
  • gain affiliate membership to the Institute of Leadership and Management
  • attend the celebration Leadership dinner with the VC
  • enjoy a host of exclusive networking opportunities
  • receive a Sussex Plus certificate and create a professional webfolio

How do I apply?

Applications for Learning to Lead need to be submitted through your Sussex Plus account.

If you have not yet signed up for a Sussex Plus account, you can register and log in at www.sussex.ac.uk/sussexplus. Sussex Plus accounts are available to all students who are undergraduate or taught programme post graduate students.

Once you have registered for a Sussex Plus account, log in and then follow the quick guide below to help you through the steps of completing your application form and sending it though the Sussex Plus gateway.
