Campus & Residential Support (including the RA Scheme) are here to support you during your time in university managed accommodation.

Monday - Friday, 10am - 10pm
Students living On-Campus

If you need emergency help, call Security on 01273 87 3333 or dial 3333 from a bedroom phone. There are also emergency phones located around campus which put you straight through to Security. The Security Office is located in York House.

  • Security are first-aid trained
  • Security will call 999 for you and coordinate guiding emergency services (such as ambulance) to your address on campus
  • Security can contact on-call Residential Community Coordinator and/or Residential Support Manager on your behalf
  • If you would prefer to speak to a female member of staff, please let Security know although this may not always be possible

For Welfare issues, you can come speak to a Residential Community Coordinator at York House 24hr Reception between 10am-10pm Monday to Friday.

Student Life Centre is open 9am-5pm Monday to Fridays. They can help with:

  • Understanding University processes
  • Personal issues
  • Money worries
  • Developing your study skills
  • Health concerns
  • Settling and finding your feet

Students living Off-Campus in university managed accommodation

If On-Campus at time of emergency, see 'Students living On-Campus' section. If calling from an Off-Campus or Headlease residence, please continue.

First, please call Emergency Services directly (Police, Ambulance, Fire brigade) on 999 and report the issue(s).

Second, follow up by contacting Security on 01273 87 3333 so we know that there is an emergency Off-Campus. Security is a 24/7 service who will be able to advise you over the phone and coordinate further response, however please note that this team cannot leave campus.

Also, Security can contact the on-call Residential Community Coordinator and/or Residential Support Manager on your behalf.

For Welfare issues, you can come speak to a Residential Commnity Coordinator at York House 24hr Reception between 10am-10pm Monday to Friday.

For an emergency maintainance issue, if in a Headlease property, call Housing on 01273 67 8220. Housing is open for phone calls 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm Monday to Friday.

Students living in private sector

If On-Campus at time of emergency, see 'Students living On-Campus' section or call Security on 01273 87 3333. If seeking help from private accommodation, please continue.

Please call Emergency Services directly (Police, Ambulance, Fire brigade) on 999 and report the issue.

For an emergency maintenance issue, for any On-Campus property, please contact York House 24hr Reception on 01273 67 8323. The exception to this is Stanmer Court residents, who should call Stanmer Court Reception on 01273 67 8938. Stanmer is a 24 hour reception.

Students living Off-Campus in university managed accommodation

If you’re living in the private sector and need out-of-hours emergency welfare support please phone JAM, our out-of-hours call-back service, on (+44) (0)2089  383873. JAM will give guidance over-the phone and will also contact the Residential Community Coordinator (RCC) on duty who will return your call within the hour. The RCC will offer over-the-phone welfare support and advice, along with signposting for additional available support.

This service is not designed or intended in any way to replace the role of the emergency services or other relevant agencies such as GP's or other local NHS provision.

NOTE: Calls are charged at your local standard mobile / landline rate.

Campus and Residential Support

The Campus and Residential Support team (CRS) manages the behaviour, welfare and critical incidents for all students on campus or living in University managed accommodation.  Our team provides 24 hour pastoral care support and provides or coordinates welfare support both internally and in partnership with external support services (NHS, Adult Social Services, Local Hospitals, Campus GP Surgery).  CRS is part of Student Experience and we work extremely closely with colleagues accross the division as well as colleagues in teams such as Security Services, Housing Services, and Building Management teams (SEF).

The CRS team also provides an 'out of hours' crisis advice line to students in the private sector. 

If you’re living in the private sector and need out-of-hours emergency welfare support please phone JAM, our out-of-hours call-back service, on (+44) (0)2089  383873. JAM will give guidance over-the phone and will also contact the Residential Community Coordinator (RCC) on duty who will return your call within the hour in an emergency. The RCC will offer over-the-phone welfare support and advice, along with signposting for additional available support.

This service is not designed or intended in any way to replace the role of the emergency services or other relevant agencies such as GP's or other local NHS provision.

NOTE: Calls are charged at your local standard mobile / landline rate.

The CRS also manages discipline within the residence in accordance with the University Discipline policy and your tenancy agreement.
