Making the Future - Sussex's 50th anniversary fundraising campaign

Welcome to the University of Sussex’s Making the Future campaign.

Launched in 2011, during our 50th Anniversary celebrations, Making the Future is Sussex’s first major fundraising campaign and an opportunity for the Sussex community to come together to support the three most important areas of the University – our people, programmes and places.

Our vision for the future is to work with our friends to make a step change, achieving a margin of excellence that will be the difference between continued progress and complete transformation. We aim to raise £50 million by 2016 and thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends of the University, over 75 percent of the target has already been achieved.

Making a positive impact

No matter how much you can give, your support will have an impact on the University and society. Philanthropy is already transforming the work we do, from enhancing our scholarships programme and improving the student experience to enabling us to establish new interdisciplinary research centres such as in adoption research and practice, consciousness science and Middle Eastern studies.

As a charity, and with only a third of our annual income now coming from the Government, it is vital that we demonstrate the impact we are having on issues of local and global importance and look for ways that the whole Sussex community, including alumni, staff and friends, can support what we do.

We are grateful to the many individuals, businesses, and charitable trusts and foundations who have supported the Campaign so far.

On this website, you can watch a film about the Campaign, read more about our three priority areas and find out how to support us.

'You really inspire me to support this fund myself when I am financially able to do so, because I know just how much it helps.'
