Research event to mark Trans* Day of Visibility

The University of Sussex will host an online research event next Tuesday (31 March) to mark International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), which is dedicated to celebrating TransNonBinary people and raising awareness of their experiences.

The Sussex event, WhoBelongsHereMoreThanYou, will question how we might make research more inclusive, out of a desire not to accidentally reproduce - by default - assumed hierarchies. It will begin a series of interdisciplinary conversions on the topic of embodiment and knowledge generation.

As a participatory academic event, the conversation is geared towards trans, non-binary and intersex academics and allies who are academic staff, doctoral researchers, students and members of professional services at the University of Sussex.

It was due to be held on campus but, given the coronavirus pandemic, the event will now take place virtually, through the creation of an online shared document and conversation.

This event is free, but please register your interest as soon as possible so that you can contribute to a shared document for 31 March, Trans* Day of Visibility - and possibly a 'live' virtual event in the afternoon.

The organisers hope to reschedule the originally planned in-person celebration for a later date.
