One World Sussex is run collaboratively by the University of Sussex and Students’ Union to unify students and staff, and promote a shared identity as a global community.

The School of Life Sciences is taking part in a campaign to promote cultural understanding and will celebrate the diversity of the School community.

One World Sussex is run collaboratively by the University of Sussex and Students’ Union to unify students and staff, and promote a shared identity as a global community. This year the School of Life Sciences will host an event as part of this campaign.

Students and staff will be encouraged to share where they have travelled from to be part of the School by adding pins to the ‘one science world map’ which will be displayed in the foyer of the John Maynard Smith building.

Dr Katy Petherick, Co-Chair of the School’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, said: “We hope this map will demonstrate how wonderfully diverse our community is in the School of Life Sciences. One World Sussex is a fantastic initiative and a real opportunity to celebrate our diversity of cultures.”

The School of Life Sciences event is funded by One World Sussex – a series of events which aim to celebrate the diversity of the University of Sussex community and/or address global issues.
