LPS student Vainius Bartasevicius celebrates his PhD viva success

On 11th December the department of Politics at University of Sussex was able to celebrate another PhD viva success.

Vainius Bartasevicius explained how and why some eastern European countries adopted more inclusive nationality rules than others. Vainius argued that over a 14 year period from 2000 four factors influenced the decisions that countries made; the left-right position of their governments, the strength of far-right parties, the size of the minority population in question and the salience of minority issues.

Vainius's examiners were Marc Helbling (Bamberg) and Aleks Szczerbiak (Sussex) and he passed without needing to do any further changes.
