ESW foodbank collection

ESW foodbank collection

This year, the School of Education and Social Work is collecting for the Sussex Community Development Association, a charity proposed by our students which operates wellbeing groups and youth clubs in Newhaven and Denton supporting young people aged 8-18 years, including those with disabilities including mental health issues.

The initiative also recognises and supports Disability History Month (15 November to 15 December).

SCDA have requested specific items for donation to their foodbank:

  • tin openers
  • UHT milk
  • tinned tuna
  • tinned vegetables (sweetcorn, carrots, mixed veg)
  • instant noodles
  • long-life desserts (such as tinned rice pudding and jelly)
  • toilet paper
  • chocolate bars.

SCDA is also in the early stages of setting up ‘The Period Project’ for which they request donations of a wide range of sanitary products to distribute to local young people to address the stigma of periods and prevent period poverty.

Donated items should be left in the Essex House Staff Room up to 12 December.

Small items can make a BIG difference

Thank you!

This event is being organised and promoted by ESW's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee
