Roads, access, and other works

Lewes Bonfire night

On Tuesday 5 November, the annual Lewes Bonfire night will have significant impact on roads and public transport. Road restrictions will primarily be local to Lewes itself; however, there is likely to be impact on traffic and potential delays towards Lewes after 5pm, and no trains will call at Falmer station after the 6.31pm service to Hastings.

HV works by the Sport Centre

To enable local high-voltage cable installation works, several draw pits have been opened on Stony Mere Way. These works have necessitated a partial lane closure; please be aware of potential impacts on traffic into campus and cycle lanes during busy hours.

Roadworks on A27 opposite the Keep

Brighton & Hove City Council are undertaking high-voltage cable installations along the A27 Lewes Road, which has necessitated the closure of the bus lane eastbound, opposite The Keep. This is expected to be in place until the end of the month. Please be aware of potential for minor delays during busy times when travelling to campus from Brighton.

Overnight roadworks around Falmer village

Highways England will be undertaking out-of-hours investigation works around Falmer village, lasting until Saturday 2 November, overnight between 8pm and 6am only.

This will include single-lane closures on the slip road from the B2123 onto the A27 westbound, and on the Falmer Hill westbound layby before the bridge. This will also involve road narrowing on the B2123 approaching Knights Gate roundabout, and the overnight closure of the Falmer Hill westbound bus stop during these times.

From Monday 28 October to Friday 8 November, lighting works will necessitate additional closures and diversions out-of-hours between 8pm and 6am. All buses will be escorted to Falmer station bus stop to arrive with services as normal. All other westbound vehicles will be diverted to the Lewes roundabout to turn around on the A27, as the slip road will be closed. These works will be suspended on Tuesday 5 November due to Lewes Bonfire Night.
