We are delighted to be welcoming back to campus Sussex and IDS alumni Réjane Woodroffe and Mamunur Rahman who recently won global British Council UK Alumni Awards recognising their work in South Africa and Bangladesh respectively.

This talk, forming part of the Sussex Development Lectures series, gives us the opportunity to hear how Réjane and Mamunur founded and grew their social enterprises, the challenges they've tackled, the opportunities they've created, and how their studies and experience here relate to their professional development.

Welcome and introductions by Provost Saul Becker and the Business School's Dr Julie Litchfield

You'll also have the chance to ask questions in the live Q&A following the talks. This will be followed by networking with drinks and snacks in the foyer.

Mamunur Rahman, who studied a Masters degree in Gender and Development taught jointly by IDS and the University of Sussex in 2007, was awarded the Entrepreneurialism prize for his innovation that transforms leftover clothing material into sanitary products. ‘Ella Pads’ support more than 50,000 women with improved health, hygiene and employment opportunities as the pads are made by women for women.

This event will be filmed, recorded and live streamed on the IDS Facebook and Sussex Alumni pages.

This event is organised by the University of Sussex Development and Alumni Relations Office and IDS in partnership with the British Council Alumni Awards team.
