Vote for the Sussex campus as your favourite green space

This year, an army of experts awarded a record-breaking 1,973 Green Flag Awards to the UK’s very best green spaces, including the University of Sussex Falmer campus. Now the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy is asking the public to vote for their favourites.

Vote for the University of Sussex at the People's Choice Awards now!

You can find the award-winning open spaces at the Green Flag Award website. To vote for the Sussex campus, simply find it on the map and click the ‘Vote for this site’ button.

Voting closes on 30 September, with the top 10 winning sites due to be announced on 15 October.

The Green Flag Award scheme recognises and celebrates green spaces across the UK and internationally, covering a variety of locations including university campuses, parks, heritage sites and residential areas.

Thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) Grounds team, the University has received a Green Flag Award every year since 2017, for managing the unique ecology of the South Downs in a busy campus environment.

Our Grounds team works all year round to maintain the appearance and environmental condition of campus, including unique features such as our wildflower gardens and rare population of elm trees.

More information on groundskeeping at the University of Sussex is available on the Grounds webpages.
