Are you an international student thinking about how to make the most of your degree when you apply for jobs? This session will show you how to identify and talk about your skills and experience.

Learning aims

  • Identify your employability skills and experience in order to make a positive impression on recruiters
  • Become aware of how you can further develop your skills while you are studying by working part-time, volunteering or getting involved with the Students' Union
  • Learn how to describe your skills to a recruiter
  • Explore resources that can help with your job search

Learning objectives

  • Evaluate your employability skills and competencies including communication, time management and problem- solving skills
  • Understand how to describe them and how to provide examples in applications for example using the STAR formula
  • Develop an effective strategy for making successful applications
  • Consider how to prepare for interviews
