Sussex Mathematicians meet H.M. King Felipe VI of Spain at the ICIAM 2019 congress

Sussex Mathematicians are out in force this week at the International Congress for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM 2019) in Valencia, Spain. ICIAM is the largest applied mathematics congress world-wide and takes place every 4 years.

Members of faculty Dr Konstantin Blyuss, Dr Filippo Cagnetti, Prof Bertram Düring, Dr Max Jensen, Dr Konstantinos Koumatos, Dr Yuliya Kyrychko, Prof Anotida Madzvamuse, Prof Vanessa Styles and PhD students Blake Ashworth, Laura Murphy and Andreas Vikelis are using the opportunity to present their latest research to the international mathematical community.

The congress was inaugurated by King Felipe VI of Spain on Monday who highlighted in his speech the important role mathematics plays in driving innovation in the global economy. As a special treat, delegates had the opportunity to meet his majesty after the opening ceremony.
