Everyday cycling for everyone this month

All University of Sussex staff are encouraged to ride a bike this month – and encourage others to do so.

Love to Ride are teaming up with Cycling UK to celebrate everyday cycling for everyone – and you're invited to experience the freedom of two wheels and help others to discover the joys and benefits of cycling.

Register to see what Love to Ride is all about and get all the information you need to celebrate the summer of cycling.

Then enjoy a ride any time, anywhere in June and record it on your profile to go into a prize draw for a European city break, bikes, an e-bicycle, vouchers and more.

Cycling is fun, (almost) free and it's good for you: people who ride to work are far less likely to suffer from cancer or heart disease. If more people get around by bike our air will be cleaner, saving lives and making our towns and cities greener and more liveable.

You don’t even need to own a bike to take part; hundreds of Brighton Bike Share bikes are available across the city.

The theme for Bike Week, from 8-16 June, is #7DaysofCycling - all Love to Ride members are invited to ride seven times during Bike Week to celebrate:

  • Enjoying the social side of cycling
  • Cycling to school and engaging children in cycling
  • The mental health benefits of cycling
  • Businesses boosting their cycle-friendliness
  • Favourite three miles - best short routes by bike
  • Getting fit and healthy through cycling
  • Travelling from A-B by bike

There are no rules on what counts as one of your seven - from riding to work to cycling to the shops; from giving your bike a spring clean to joining a cycle club.

Share a photo, video or story about your experience on Love to Ride or via social media, using the #7DaysofCycling hashtag. Keep updated on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.

Find out more about cycling to campus - including how to get new bicycles and safety equipment with savings of up to 42% through the University of Sussex Cycle to Work scheme.
