A27 westbound carriageway closed after 8pm

Due to resurfacing works taking place along the A27 next week, the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am every day from today (Wednesday 13 March), lasting until Friday 22 March.

This means that no access will be available on the A27 heading towards Brighton.

All drivers leaving the University after 8pm heading towards Brighton should therefore use the west entrance to campus only, leaving via Stony Mere Way (driving past Stanmer Park), joining the A270 by The Keep and continuing their journey as normal.

The eastbound carriageway towards Lewes is unaffected.

Buses will also be impacted by this closure, with the Falmer station bus stop closed overnight during these works. Students and staff travelling to Brighton via bus after 8pm should use regular services from any bus stop on campus as normal, after which buses will turn round and travel back through campus and exit to the A270 via the above route, with services returning to normal from the Brighton Academy bus stop onwards.

For more information on bus diversions, visit the Brighton & Hove buses website.
