Celebrating Chinese New Year of the Pig

Chinese New Year of the Pig 2019

Sussex Chinese students celebrate Spring Festival

We wish all of our Business School students, staff and alumni a splendid Chinese Year of the Pig which begins today, Tuesday 5 February.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated with a major public holiday in China and a series of festivities take place over a two week period. The tradition is just as significant around the world too. In the UK the largest celebrations take place in London, where on 10 February a 50-float parade will take place between Shaftesbury Avenue and Trafalgar Square.

The Year of the Pig is the last Chinese zodiac sign in the 12-year cycle, succeeding the Year of the Dog and preceding the Year of the Rat. Pigs symbolise good fortune and wealth.

Whatever you are doing to celebrate, we wish you a very Happy Lunar New Year.
