Volunteer instructors needed for Code First: Girls course in Spring 2019

After two successful courses in 2018, Sussex is again partnering with Code First: Girls to run another free coding course at the University in Spring Term 2019. We are currently looking for our next intake of instructors, and it would be great to have you on board to lend a hand on the course!

Our instructors come from a variety of coding backgrounds, and include computer science/technical postgraduates, company-based professionals with programming experience, freelance developers and university lecturers.

The course runs once a week for 8 weeks on Thursdays from 6.30-8.30pm. The Spring Term 2019 course starts on Thursday 14 February and finishes on Thursday 4 April.

All material and structure for the course is provided and you will be given a briefing before the course starts.

Key benefits of volunteering with us are:

  • access to our network of supportive instructors (350+) and learners (3,500+) across the country, including contacts at organisations such as Twitter, ThoughtWorks, the Guardian, Marks&Spencer, Level39, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and many more
  • the opportunity to take on paid work as and when CodeFirst: Girls is approached by companies for project work
  • invitations to our events, held at our HQ and the Google Campus in London, in Manchester and other locations from time to time

You can read all about what it's like to be an instructor on our website, along with a contact form to get in touch.

The closing deadline to sign up is Thursday 31 January.

It's incredibly rewarding and you are directly helping us to get more women in tech!
