Roads, access and other works

Boiler House Hill

Boiler House Hill will be partially closed over the weekend (1-2 December) to allow for the delivery and installation of oil tanks to the energy centre. During this period, buses will be diverted away from Boiler House Hill, taking an alternative route along Southern Ring Road.

The pedestrian footpaths adjacent to Fulton building will be closed from 3 December for one week while pipework and equipment associated with the temporary boilers are removed.

During the weekend of 8-9 December, Boiler House Hill will be completely closed to vehicles while the temporary boilers themselves are removed from the site outside Fulton building. Again, buses will be diverted via Southern Ring Road during this time.

Emergency services vehicles will continue to have access throughout the period of these works on Boiler House Hill.

Adjustment to bus services along Refectory Road

The number 23 bus, which was recently re-instated to service the residences to the north of the campus, has been replaced by the 50U. This is because Brighton & Hove buses were unable to schedule the 23 to visit Northfield due to the impact that the traffic lights on Refectory Road were having on the schedule of the public service to the Marina.

Number 25 buses are now serving Northfield again after 7.30pm, and the 25X now calls at Northfield throughout the night.

A27 lighting renewal scheme

Work is underway to replace the street lighting along the A27 between Coldean interchange and east of Falmer footbridge. Contractors (on behalf of Highways England) are conducting the works during the night, between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Fridays only.
