Roads, access and other works

Park Village car park (P8)

The central bank of spaces in Park Village car park (P8) remain closed for works to improve the pedestrian route in that area. Work is expected to continue for two weeks, at which point 16 spaces will be re-instated. The other 16 spaces will form the new pedestrian footpath leading to the north of the campus.

Car park (P8) will remain open throughout the period of works, for drivers to use the spaces that will remain available around the periphery.

Bus services along Refectory Road

Refectory Road has now re-opened to the 23 and 50U buses that service Northfield residences. The 23 runs two services per hour on average, beginning at 6.53am and continuing until after midnight.  The 50U also runs around two services per hour from 9.00am until 6.59pm.

Number 25/25X buses will not be included at this time, but will continue to serve the existing route on campus.

A27 lighting renewal scheme

Starting on Monday 19 November, the street lighting along the A27 between Coldean interchange and east of Falmer footbridge will be replaced. The works will be carried out by contractors on behalf of Highways England and will be conducted overnight between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Fridays only.

The replacement programme along the eastbound and westbound stretch of road will be phased, continuing until early May 2019. The works will require overnight closure of the inside lane, as well as entry and exit slip lane closures. Impacted routes will be clearly signposted in advance of and during the work.

Access along all routes will remain unaffected during the daytime, and at weekends.

Access for buses and emergency services will be maintained at all times, and parking during evening games played at the football stadium will also be factored in to the works phasing plan.
