June saw over a hundred recent graduates attending a first-of-its-kind Sussex alumni networking event at the British Airways i360 in Brighton.

Lively discussions took place as guests met fellow alumni from the last ten years amid stunning surroundings both on the ground and at 450ft.

Alumni Network benefits for continuing professional development were highlighted in presentations from the Students' Union and the Alumni team, including an introduction to our new global networking and mentoring platform for alumni and students, Sussex Connect.

Phones came out for a live poll, where guests voted on future event options and the kind of alumni help offered in Sussex Connect they would find most useful, and the Careers and Employability Centre team spoke to alumni about the free support offered for up to three years following graduation.

Upon reaching the summit, alumni shared amazing photos using the #ForeverSussex hashtag and Jade Gill (Business and Management Studies 2015) was the winner of a bottle of Breaky Bottom Cuvée Sir Harry Kroto and a Sussex teddy for best capturing the spirit of the event.

One guest said: “It was a lovely relaxed evening and a great chance to meet alumni with other experiences and advice to offer to new graduates - plus, it was excellent value for money!”

Profits from the event will go to the Sussex Fund, which helps and supports students who find themselves in unexpected financial difficulty.

Photos from the evening are available to view in Sussex Connect.
