Professor Andrea Prencipe
Professor Andrea Prencipe, who gained both an MSc in Technology and Innovation Management (1994-95) and a PhD in Science and Technology Policy Studies (1995-2000) as a SPRU student, has been appointed as the new Rector of the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli (English: the Guido Carli Free International University for Social Studies), known as LUISS Guido Carli, in Rome.
Prof Prencipe has already contacted Prof Steve McGuire, Head of the University of Sussex Business School, to discuss potential collaboration between the two institutions and building on existing initiatives including the participation of Sussex MBA students in the MBA International Week at LUISS Business School.
Prof Prencipe said: "Studying and working at the University of Sussex was a fantastic educational and personal experience. The irreverent, international, and challenging SPRU context constituted a real springboard for my academic career, first as an international researcher, and now as the academic leader of LUISS Guido Carli, a fast growing social science university!"
Commenting on Prof Prencipe’s appointment, Prof McGuire said: “This is fantastic news. I met Andrea at SPRU’s 50th anniversary celebration in September 2016 and, even then, his passion and ambition for developing LUISS Guido Carli into a truly international institution renowned within academia and business shone through. I wish him well in his new role and look forward to working closely with him in the years ahead.”
