Still time to share your views on new strategic framework

Hopefully everyone is aware that the University has been consulting widely this term on the proposed strategic framework – there’s still time to have your say before the end of the day on Monday 13 November.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Saul Becker has shared important information for staff on what the strategic framework is aiming to achieve and how this is different from how we have approached our strategic planning in the past. Please take a moment to find out more here.

A draft framework was presented to the University’s governing Council in October and, over the last couple of weeks, the framework has been shared with the campus community.

Hundreds of staff and students have attended one of a series of consultation workshops, and many more have shared their feedback by email or via an online form. Feedback has also come from the Professional Services Engagement Group and from Sussex alumni.

Saul Becker says: “Thank you so much to all of the staff, students and alumni who have so far taken the time to find out about our draft strategic framework and to give us such constructive feedback. We will be considering all the points raised as we progress to finalising the framework.

“It’s been so crucial to gather your thoughts and opinions as we travel along this road together. If you’ve not yet had your say, please don’t delay - we want to hear from you.”

Don’t worry if you didn’t manage to get to one of the workshops: a video of a webinar led by Saul is now available to view on the strategy web pages.

Alternatively you may wish to view the voiced-over presentation, with thoughts from Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell and the Students’ Union president Frida Gustafsson .

You can then give your thoughts by using the online form, which will be open until 4pm on Monday (13 November).

What happens next?

The University Leadership Team (ULT) will be considering all the feedback and discussion from the consultation with our community. The framework will then be refined further and presented to the University’s Council on 28 November.

The University is aiming to launch the new strategy next term, and you’ll continue to hear more over the coming weeks about how the plans are developing.
