Taught Masters degree
The M.Sc. in Biomedical Instrumentation is run by the Biomedical Engineering Research Group.
Practical project work may be undertaken in conjunction with active researchers working on image processing for medical diagnosis, medical imaging analysis, medical electronics and novel sensors for healthcare and assisted living.
The programme consists of four core courses, in introduction to biomedical engineering, biomedical sensor techniques, advanced biomedical instrumentation systems and virtual instrumentation for biomedical applications, and a further four courses chosen from a range of options in advanced electronics, image processing and management. The major project, which accounts for one third of the programme, is conducted in groups of three or four students giving the opportunity to develop professional teamworking skills, as well as advanced research and project management skills.
