Students on the Sussex MBA benefit from automatic membership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence.

Your membership gives you access to resources including career development, industry mentoring, curriculum enrichment and more. 

On graduation, you gain a CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. This qualification means you are widely recognised by employers as a manager with the ability to translate organisational strategy into effective performance.

Financial Risk and Investment Analysis MSc

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute

The choice and design of modules for the MSc in Financial Risk and Investment Analysis has been made in consultation the extensive Study Guide for the Level I CFA syllabus. This means that by the time you graduate, you will have gained an excellent grounding in the knowledge and skills that you will require for passing the CFA level 1 examination.

CISIChartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI)

Students on the Financial Risk and Investment Analysis MSc also benefit from automatic registration with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), providing access to careers events and employability training, on-campus presentations and exam booking.

The curriculum has been recognised by the CISI as strong preparation (with minimal gap fill) for the CISI Level 6 examination "Financial Markets", which forms a part of both the Diploma in Capital Markets and the Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification. Module content also covers part of the necessary material for the CISI examinations "Portfolio Construction Theory", "Financial Derivatives" and "Securities", enabling students to aim for well-recognised professional qualifications soon after completing the MSc.

GARP logoGlobal Association of Risk Professionals (GARP)

The MSc in Financial Risk and Investment Analysis is a recognised Academic Partner of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), a leading international organisation for the promotion of risk management. The MSc has been designed to cover 70% of the material required to obtain GARP’s professional FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification.  

Graduates are therefore well prepared to pass the FRM exams, or to pursue GARP’s ERP (Energy Risk Professional) certification. As an Academic Partner, Sussex can provide additional support and information if you wish to obtain an FRM or ERP certification. Research fellowships are also occasionally available through GARP.

We are one of only a few leading universities in the UK to achieve double accreditation.

CILT is the leading accrediting body with a particular focus upon transport systems and warehousing. As a Student Member of CILT you will have access the Knowledge Centre, free access to the Student Conference and free participation at CILT events held at the University of Sussex. Upon completion of your Masters degree you will have Member status of the CILT.

CIPS logoChartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)

CIPS is the premier accrediting body in the broad field of Procurement and Supply Chain Management and offers our students a wide range of resources and activities. As a student member you will have full access to a vast array of sector-specific publications, including contemporary White Papers. You also have access to Guest Lectures and the Annual CIPS Conference. Upon completion of your Masters you will be exempt from all exams that result in Membership status of the CIPS.

The MSc in Human Resource Management has received accreditation from the CIPD. All students who sit and pass the following core modules on this MSc will automatically have passed the equivalent modules offered by CIPD, listed here in bold:

You will become a Student Member of the CIPD during your studies. The first term will include an introduction to the CIPD and its activities both nationally and regionally. There will also be opportunities to attend various CIPD events both in Sussex and elsewhere in the UK, designed to facilitate networking with practitioners, enhance your understanding of the HR profession, and increase your employability. As a graduate – once you have successfully demonstrated the required level of expertise – you can use the accreditation on your CV, offering you a significant advantage in the job market.
