Dark energy in the Universe

The development of precision cosmology is the leading edge of modern cosmology, and increasingly requires use of advanced statistical tools. The student's research will study cosmological models applying Bayesian statistics methodology, with particular focus on models of dark energy. Implementation of the calculations will require high-performance computing using public codes developed by the Sussex group. A specific application will be to test and exploit the ability of the upcoming Dark Energy Survey international project to distinguish amongst cosmological models. The results will help maximize the science return from Sussex University's involvement in the Dark Energy Survey.
