Course outline
Communicating Art is a fifteen-week level-one course taught in the Spring and Summer terms. The course forms part of the First Year teaching for the Art History single-honours programme.
This course will focus on the objects of art history: specific paintings and works of art. Each session will involve lecturers discussing a specific object within its visual, historical and art historical context.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, a successful student should be able to:
1) demonstrate the underlying principles used by art historians to describe works of art;
2) contextualise works of art;
3) effectively communicate works of art to a lay audience.
