Can I receive my Alumni Study Award at any time other than the Spring Term?

Alumni Study Awards are only presented in the Spring Term. This means that most of our students who begin their studies in the Autumn Term will receive their Award in the following Spring Term. As above, the payment will be made directly into your UK bank account via the Banks Automated Clearing System (BACS), please ensure you have entered your UK bank account details into Sussex Direct. Payment of your Award will happen automatically. The Development and Alumni Relations Office will write to you in December to confirm payment details of the Award.

Will I receive more than one Award if my postgraduate degree lasts for more than one year?

If your programme of study is for more than one year (i.e. you are studying a masters degree part-time or you are studying for an MPhil or a DPhil) and you are registered as a Full Time or Part Time student, you will receive an Award in the Spring Term of each successive year of your period of registration. As above, the payment will be made directly into your UK bank account via the Banks Automated Clearing System (BACS), please ensure you have entered your UK bank account details into Sussex Direct. Payment of your Award will happen automatically. The Development and Alumni Relations Office will write to you in December to confirm payment of the Award.

Please note that you will not receive an Alumni Study Award for any academic years where you are only writing up your thesis / dissertation.
