The UNICEF (The United Nations Children Fund) Society at Sussex University aims to raise funds and awareness among students, graduates and staff through lectures, art shows and performances.

The UNICEF Society was inaugurated on 16 December 2004 with a lecture by Professor Sir Richard Jolly, former UNICEF US Director and Research Associate of the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. The formation of the society was acknowledged and supported by UNICEF UK ( see also local UNICEF UK events ). Jolly, who kindly agreed to become the honorary chairman of the society, entitled his address TURNING VISION INTO REALITY: The Inside Story of How UNICEF Succeeds.

Sir Richard Jolly

The success of the society relies on the joined efforts of its members, a diverse group of students from arts as well as science backgrounds, first-year undergraduates to DPhil students. Everybody committed to the ideas behind UNICEF is a valuable and welcome contributor to the UNICEF society at large or to the organising committee.

On this page we announce upcoming events, provide a record of our past achievements, and discuss our plans for the future. We also present ourselves, both as individuals with our own personal commitments to the goals of UNICEF, and as a unified organisation, committed to global change on a local level, playing its small part within UNICEF's worldwide efforts.

If you are interested in our society, you are welcome to join the mailing list . If you want to become a member of the organising committee of the UNICEF Society, come along to one of our meetings or send an email to the website coordinator to be included on the UNICEF-core mailing list.

For any further inquieries, please contact the current head of society .
