Julie Ehrenberg

Julie was born as Julie Fischel on 16 June 1827 in Prague. She married Philipp Ehrenberg and was a significant influence on many generations of the Ehrenberg family. According to her daughter-in-law, Emmi Ehrenberg, Julie was a bookish young woman for whom learning played a fundamental part of life. The items in the Elton/Ehrenberg collection show the esteem in which Julie Ehrenberg was held within the family. Both her son and her daughter-in-law wrote biographies of her to be distributed among the family. The biographies show that she was considered an unusual woman of her time and they also express the values the following generations held.
