Paul Federmann

Gerda’s father, Paul Federmann stayed in Germany after his daughter had left for London, but he maintained close contact with her through letters and regular visits. His brother Heinrich Ernst (Heinz) had died during World War I and his other brother Erich had been able to leave to the US in 1939. Neither Erich nor Gerda had any news from Paul after his last Red Cross message in 1943. Once the war was over, both tried to find out what had happened to him until Gerda received a letter from his last landlady.
