Current Pre Masters Students 2015

This page contains information for current ISC students about the process of progressing to the University of Sussex in 2015.

Choosing your Masters Degree

Your tutors at the ISC will help you choose your Masters from the available progression routes and you can find out more about the content of each Masters in the Sussex online prospectus (see the links in the 'Progression routes' section to the right of this page).

You will be required to write a Personal Statement to submit with your application.  This should be less than one page, explaining why you want to study the Masters at Sussex.  You can also tell us about any work experience or preparatory reading you may have done.

You must bring the following with you to the session with Amy Clark (either on a USB stick or in digital form):

- Personal Statement

- Photo of your passport (the personal information page)

- Photo of your current visa (and any previous UK visas that you have held)

You will be required to upload these as part of the application process, so you must bring them to the session in order to submit your application.

Your Offer

After you have submitted the online form, you will receive an email to confirm that it has been received.  The University Admissions team will produce a formal offer letter, confirming the conditions of your offer.  This will be uploaded to your online application account, nothing will be posted to you.  We will email you as soon as the letter is available online, this will be before the end of May.

Log on at www.sussex.ac.uk/study/pglogin to view your offer letter.

When the offer letter has been received, you must check the letter carefully and 'Accept' the offer of a place online.  You will be required to check your passport information too, to ensure that it is correct as this will be used for your visa application later.  Once you have accepted the place, you will be able to apply for University Housing online.  You must submit the application and pay the deposit online before 1 August 2015 to be guaranteed accommodation.

Receiving your Pre Masters result

The result of your ISC Pre Masters will be sent to you by email directly from the ISC.  Please contact the ISC (not the University) about this.

CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Study)

If you currently hold a visa to study your Pre Masters, you will probably need a new visa to study your Masters degree at the University of Sussex.  To apply for a visa for Sussex, you will need a CAS number from us.  This unique number is used for your visa application, as evidence that the University wants to admit you to a Masters degree.  For information about CAS and applying for your visa, please see the 'Useful Links' section to the right of this page.

The CAS number will be issued to you when you meet the conditions of our offer.  The CAS number is issued electronically only (nothing is posted to you) and you will be able to download from your online application account a few days after your result is received and confirmed.  We will contact you by email as soon as the CAS is available.

Log on at www.sussex.ac.uk/study/pglogin to receive your CAS number.

Advice about applying for your visa is available from the International Student Support team, they will be delivering a session for ISC students only during your final term.  Information about this can be found in the 'Visa' section to the right of this page.

Applying for your Visa

Advice about applying for your visa is available from the International Student Support team, they will be delivering a session for ISC students only during your final term.  Information about this can be found in the 'Visa' section to the right of this page.

For further information please see our webpages Applying for your student visa.

Housing

To apply for University accommodation, you must submit an online housing application and pay the £250 deposit online.  Making this payment online, using a credit or debit card, ensures that the payment is processed automatically and the Housing Office are notified immediately.  Cash payments are possible, if necessary, but this is a much slower process.

If you apply for University accommodation, the Housing Office will contact you in August to notify you of your allocation.  Information about Housing, including their contact details, can be found online.

Registering on your Masters Degree

Information about registering on your chosen Masters will be sent to you before the start of the new year.  You can begin to register online, including arranging payment of your fees, after 1 September and can complete the registration process when you return to Sussex.

As part of the registration process we will need information on how you are paying your fees.

International students who need a visa to study in the UK will be able to complete most of the registration process online, but in order to finalise your registration you will need to attend in person so that the University can take a copy of your passport and visa, as required by the Home Office.
