Academic Office
Assessment
- There will be a new mid-year examination and assessment period, after the Christmas vacation and before teaching begins in the spring term.
- Courses taught entirely in the autumn term will normally be assessed by the end of the first mid-year assessment period, although faculty are free to set the assessment for the summer term if it better meets the learning outcomes of the programme.
- Most importantly, the new academic year structure provides a longer period for providing feedback to students within the term and also following the mid-year assessment period.
- Mid-year examination and assessment has a number of additional benefits: for example, it reduces students' work load in preparing for exams during the summer.
- A mid-year examination and assessment period, which contains no teaching, will also help us to introduce a wider range of assessment methods.
