Academic Misconduct including Plagiarism

The University's Policy on Academic Misconduct is published in Section 2.9 of the University of Sussex Examination and Assessment Regulations (2012/13).

Academic Misconduct includes the following:

  • Collusion
  • Plagiarism
  • Personation
  • Misconduct in unseen exams
  • Fabrication of results
     

It is University Policy that academic misconduct is prevented by educating students in appropriate academic conduct.

All allegations of academic misconduct must be  considered seriously. Where there is an allegation of misconduct a student will be given an opportunity to present their case. Where an allegation of misconduct is proven, an approved penalty will be applied by the Head of School (for a minor case) or a Misconduct Panel (for a major case).
