Academic Office

Background

The Periodic Reviews for each School have now been completed. Each of these meetings took place over 1 or 2 days during the Spring Term and were chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning.

The Review Panels consisted of discipline specific External Assessors, Internal Academic Assessors from both cognate and on-cognate areas, Professional Service colleagues from the Library and the Careers and Employability Centre and Student Representatives from the School.

The outcome of these Reviews is that the University has ensured that the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum provision for each School is up-to-date, research-informed and has appropriate aims and learning outcomes in relation to national subject-level benchmarks. It has also confirmed that the student experience is enhanced by content that is at the forefront of their relevant discipline.

The Portfolio Review and Periodic Review has been undertaken within the context of a new academic framework. This new academic framework and regulations will take affect at the beginning of the next academic year in the Autumn Term 2012.

The current academic framework and assessment regulations will remain and apply for all assessments and resits this current academic year 2011-12.

Discussion of Porfolio Review most recently took place at Senate March 2011. Papers were published as normal on Sussex Direct. They are presented here for ease of reference:
