Salary range:  starting at £30,728 and rising to £36,661 per annum.  It is normal to appoint at the first point of the salary scale.

The University of Sussex invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in extra-galactic astrophysics. 

The successful applicant will be funded by the European Commission, Research Executive Agency (REA) SPACE cooperation programme “The Herschel Extragalactic Legacy Project (HELP)”.  This position will include tasks in a number of work packages (SPITZER-MIPS, HERSCHEL-PACS, SPIRE data, Empirical Data modelling and Science Exploitation). The post holder is expected to work alongside a PhD student also funded on the same scheme. There will be significant benefit from the work at Sussex funded by STFC under the Astronomy Centre’s consolidated grant project “The fuelling and suppression of star formation through representative studies of galaxy populations”

Education to PhD level, in Physics, Astronomy, or a related discipline, is an essential requirement. Experience within areas related to the specific research project is highly desirable.
