Description

An opportunity has arisen in the University Library for a Grade 4 Library Support Supervisor. The successful applicant will work 36.5 hours per week as part of the Planning & Administration Team. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required in addition to  providing a point of call emergency cover and occasional physical checks for the security and safety of the Library.

The postholder will co-supervise a team of Library Support Assistants, working closely with a second postholder to ensure cover of core hours. They will be primarily responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all Library staff and users and for ensuring that the building is maintained to the best possible standards.

The Library places great emphasis on providing high quality customer service and is keen to employ a new member of this pivotal team who can evidence enthusiasm and commitment to  further improving this service through  the supervision of this area.

Applicants should have good team working and organisational skills, a good understanding of basic Health & Safety regulations and the ability to deal tactfully with staff and students and to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Furthermore, absolute discretion, flexibility, good oral and written communication skills and the ability to take initiative are essential for  this post. Evidence of supervisory skills and experience of working in an HE environment would be an advantage.
