Salary range: starting at £13,839 and rising to £14,520 per annum, pro rata. It is normal to appoint at the first point of the salary scale.

Description
The Library is seeking to appoint 6 part time Shelving Assistants (10 hrs per week) for 32 weeks a year, generally over the teaching and assessment weeks. Exact weeks may vary from year to year.
Hours of work are as follows:
4 x Position 1
10 hours per week (2 hours per day for 5 days; 2 hours Monday – Thursday between 8.30am – 5.00pm and 2 hours between 1.00pm – 6.00pm on Sundays).
2 x Position 2
10 hours per week (2 hours per day for 5 days; 2 hours Monday – Friday between 4.00pm – 8.00pm)
The successful applicants would, in the first instant, be based in Lending Services contributing to the daily collection, sorting, shelving and re-spacing of books in the Library. Some light cleaning may be required.
Applicants must be able to undertake all the physical requirements of the job, such as maneuvering book trolleys and handling books for shelving etc sometimes in dusty conditions. Training will be given.
Flexibility, good oral and written communications skills and the ability to deal tactfully with staff and students is essential to this post. Experience of working in a customer orientated environment and as part of a team would be an advantage.
