Description
The Sussex Law School is a successful research-led law school, having been placed in the top 10 University Law Schools in the UK in the 2012 Sunday Times subject rankings and having scored 96% overall satisfaction level in the 2012 National Student Survey. It is undergoing unprecedented strategic growth. An earlier recruitment round involved five new Chairs and sixteen appointments at Reader, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer level. The Sussex Law School is now continuing this exciting phase of growth and expansion by recruiting a Chair in Criminal Law (one year fixed term).
The successful candidate will be a world-leading researcher in Criminal Law. He or she should have a REF portfolio evidencing 4* quality. Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates who have a research interest in the theory of criminal law and /or are able to contribute to the research of the Centre for the Study of Corruption.
The successful candidate should have a track record of attracting research funding or the potential and plans to do so, as well as experience of leading teams of researchers in the field and mentoring more junior colleagues.
He or she will be expected to take on research students in Criminal Law and to develop research relationships both across the University and externally. He or she will be expected to develop research relationships both across the University and externally.
The successful candidate will be committed to the further development and enhancement of our undergraduate portfolio, in Criminal Law.
The candidate should also be in a position to contribute to our LLM programmes. He or she will be expected to contribute to the management of the Department.
