This is an exciting and transformational time for Technical Operations in IT Services at the University of Sussex. As we move to a service management approach, we are introducing an extensive programme to modernise our platforms and upgrade our services.
To support our ICT aspirations, we are seeking an experienced, self-motivated and enthusiastic person to join our talented team of Linux and Mac systems engineers.
Reporting to the Linux and Mac Services Team Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that services are delivered in line with strategic objectives and are proactively supported to the highest levels of availability.
Demonstrable technical delivery and support skills are an essential requirement. You will be responsible for supporting Linux and Mac related services, including: the installation / operation of new and legacy platforms, support of our Linux server estate, management of related software components and the day-to-day monitoring of services.
You will use your excellent technical knowledge to support security best practice, troubleshoot issues, contribute towards departmental processes and policy and assist in the continual improvement of University IT services.
You will also have practical experience assembling business requirements, delivering project work packages and have worked with ITSM tools.
