University of Sussex is looking for an experienced, capable Solutions Architect to help design and implement IT systems to support the University strategy.
The University is committed to continually improving its services for students, academics, researchers and staff and you will be part of a rapidly developing IT Service working across the organisation.
Working within the Technology and Architecture team, you will be working with colleagues both in and outside of IT to develop high quality, pragmatic and appropriate technology solutions to real world problems.
You will develop and deliver information system solutions that align with business plans and the technology roadmap in a structured, professional manner.
You’ll come to us with:
- a sound understanding of IT architecture practise
- experience of developing and delivering real-world technology solutions
- business analysis and options appraisal abilities and experience
- experience of technical analysis and solution design skills
You will have a current knowledge of a range of technologies and the current state of the art. A good working knowledge of information security practise is desirable.
You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to explain technical subjects in an accessible way. You will also be able to work across a range of teams and projects.
You will be good at documenting your work and will have experience of TOGAF or another architecture framework, and knowledge of other best practise methodologies such as ITIL, ISO27001 and PRINCE2. Experience with Archimate or Enterprise Architecture tools is also desirable.
The University's IT systems cover a diverse range of technologies including Microsoft, Oracle, open-source systems and cloud technology.
