Salary: starting at £48,327 and rising to £55,998 per annum. It is normal to appoint at the first point of the salary scale.

Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry and Consciousness Science at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS).
We seek to appoint an individual with established expertise in cognitive neuroscience at the interface between psychiatry, emotional psychophysiology and consciousness science.
This post will contribute to the growth of internationally competitive clinical neuroscience research at BSMS within the psychiatry group at the Department of Neuroscience and in the University of Sussex Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science.
The appointee’s research will strengthen the current research focus on defining neurobiological mechanisms of symptom expression in neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders and identifying novel treatment targets.
Moreover, the appointee will build the clinical application of questions, methods and findings arising from consciousness science, through full engagement within the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science (co-Directors Prof H Critchley BSMS and Prof Anil Seth Informatics University of Sussex).
The appointee will be an established researcher in human neuroscience in domains of emotion, consciousness, human psychophysiology and neuroimaging, including interest in clinical development of novel interventional approaches.
The appointee will have a growing international reputation, endorsed by the sustained generation of high quality research publications, significant contributions to successful funding bids in clinical neuroscience.
Additional strengths in public communication, and in educational activity, including supervisory experience of undergraduate, postgraduate MSc and doctorate students, will be viewed favourably.
This post will be based in the BSMS Department of Neuroscience (head Prof Hugo Critchley) which encompasses Neurology (Chair Prof Nigel Leigh), Dementia Studies (Chair Prof Sube Banerjee), Psychiatry (Prof Hugo Critchley) and Medical Physics (Prof Mara Cercignani).
The post-holder will be expected to raise substantive grant income and participate actively in the research and educational endeavours of BSMS at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
