Brighton and Sussex Medical School wishes to appoint an experienced social science researcher to work with Professor Bobbie Farsides on the Wellcome Trust funded project Facilitating Ethical Preparedness in Genomic Medicine. This collaborative cross-disciplinary project is jointly run with Professor Anneke Lucassen University of Southampton. The project will begin as genomic medicine services are being rolled out within the NHS, and will examine the experience of staff and patients with a particular focus on their preparedness to cope with the ethical challenges of this transformational healthcare initiative. The successful candidate will be integral to the success of the project, conducting qualitative research within NHS settings, supporting junior colleagues and taking on specific responsibilities for the management of the project.
