The Centre for International Education (CIE) is looking for a post-doctoral Research Fellow to work on the Increasing Efficiency and Improving Quality of Secondary Education in sub-Sahara Africa (SSA) research project funded by the MasterCard Foundation. The research project will be addressing two fundamental questions: how are secondary schools in SSA making the best use of all allocated resources and to what end? What combination of internal efficiency factors consistently produces the best learning outcomes and what are the implications for reforms in secondary education in Africa?
We wish to appoint an experienced qualitative researcher who will engage in the planning of the qualitative case study research component of the project. The post holder will assist with the analysis and interpretation of qualitative research findings and contribute to discussions on conclusions and outcomes. The successful candidate will write drafts of the analysis for both academic and policy audiences, and prepare PowerPoint presentations for these audiences. S/he will also liaise with other team members in the project and is expected to travel to Malawi and Uganda as part of the project.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant subject and have relevant qualitative research training and experience. Applicants should also demonstrate evidence of drafting reports and contributing to writing for publications to a high standard.
